The little prince

Lantern lighter on his planet.
It is a terrible job
"The little prince could not understand where a lantern and it's lighter would be good for, somewhere in space on a planet with neither houses nor people. Yet he said to himself: That man may be foolish, but the work of a lamplighter has meaning. It's a very nice occupation - and actually useful, because of it's beauty.
But the lamplighter himself thought it a terrible job.
- In the past it was a good job. In the morning I extinguished the light and in the evening i lit it again. The remainder of the day I could rest, and the remainder of the night I could sleep. But the planet started to spin faster and faster. Now she rotates in one minute and I can't have a seconds' rest.
- That is amusing, said the little prince, so with you the day's only take a minute.
- That is not at all amusing, answered the lanternlighter. We are already talking for a month.
- A month?
- Yes, thirty minutes, thirty days! Goodnight. He lit his lantern again and wiped his forehead with a red-checkered handkerchief.
The little prince greatly appriciated the lanternlighter, who had his hands full with the lighting and extinguising of the lamp. He thought by himself: Just a person who keeps himself busy with other things than himself. I could befriend him. "

This is an edited part from "the little prince". This fragment gives quite a good idea of how i would like to do my job. In contraast to the lanternlighter I still think great of my job. I think it an art to, in a world that spins in one minute, find the peace to light my light.
